Pages: 57 School: National Taipei University of Technology Department: Graduate Institute of Computer Communication and Control Engineering Time: July, 2004 Degree: Master Researcher: Yih-Jian Huang Advisor: Dr. Kai-Wei Ke Keywords: Adaptive channel allocation, Admission control, Blocking probability, Channel utilization, Multimedia. The prosperity of Internet and the improvement of the wireless communication technology lead to the increasing demand of mobile and multimedia communication services. Unfortunately, the wireless radio resources are limited but user demands are unlimited. The radio resource obviously needs to be treasured, and how it can be allocated efficiently becomes an important issue. Standing at efficiency viewpoint and matching with the development of coding technique, this research tries to resolve the issue and proposes a new resource allocation scheme for wireless/mobile communication systems. The thesis brings up an adaptive and reallocation concept to the allocation of radio resources with the goal of increasing resource utilization and decreasing blocking probability to users. A basic mathematical model was first built as a baseline. Then, we apply the adaptive and reallocation control to three given allocation strategies, complete sharing, resource allocation, and external blocking, and derive the corresponding analytical models and formulas of utilization and blocking probability. Various numerical computations and comparisons were made, by changing traffic parameters such as arrival rate, offered load and channel capacity. The results showed that for any given allocation scheme, with adaptive and reallocation control, the system performance can be really improved. Kai-Wei Ke 柯開維 2004 學位論文 ; thesis 57 zh-TW
