The medical institute also unceasingly promoted the medical service quality including hardware and software service. They indeed had received a quite big value subsidy on improving the hardware facilityin during the SARS storm in last year, because the negative pressure isolation ward was insufficient. But still ther was no standard regulating the facility construction. According to this, it is urgent to have these topics researched extensively. To thorough analysis and discuss the functions of an isolation ward, the present research utilize numerical simulation by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to analyze the air flow characteristics under various design parameters such as air change rate, static pressure, room layout etc. Also field tests wre performed in detail to examine and validate the air folw pattern obtained from simulation. This thesis also introduced plan and design for the negative pressure isolation ward. By simulation and testing of an actual case, suggestions of air change rate, differential pressure control and room layout to obtain better air flow distribution are proposed. It is expected that the present research has great contribution to the public and health of people.
