碩士 === 淡江大學 === 中國文學學系 === 92 === Tong Qi-Chang was a calligrapher and painter of Ming Dynasty. The theory he made in Chinese literati painting influenced to Ming and Qing Dynasty painting theory. He thought there were five characteristics in Chinese literati painting . In Chinese literati painting, first of all, there was a flat innocent natural point of view ; second of all, it followed the ancient’s thinking ; third of all, not only copy the paint but also change it ; fourth of all, the painter must be with well moral standing ;fifth of all, the painting work must be presented by the painter’s thinking. According to the five points above, Tong Qi-Chang built his important theory: the South-Northern painting theory . However, there were still shortcomings and questions in Tong Qi-Chang’s theory. In the South-Northern painting theory, the first, there was nonstandard rule ; the second, many important painters were left out ; the third, it made unfair point to judge Chao Mengfu . To research the main theory from Tong Qi-Chang’s works and the questions from Tong Qi-Chang’s literati painting theory will be the major job on this thesis.
