碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 空間設計系碩士班 === 92 === For the increase of independent living farmers, the problems of caregiving for the frail elders has become serious in the farm village. In general, aged farmers needed to leave countryside when they were disable because of their children working in urban area. This situation has resulted in the difficulty of living for aged farmers and made houses empty in the farm village. It has been urgent issue to provide caregiving system in terms of community care and implicate the planning of aging in place for the frail farmers. This research reviewed the articles, including the theories of assisted living, community construction and reusing of existing space, and selected 16 farm villages together with random samples of 480 aged farmers for investigation. The requirements questionnaire of caregiving environment for community assisted living houses and the situation survey of existing spaces in the farm village were proceeded in order to analyze the problems which affect the construction of assisted living houses and evaluate the possible typologies of existing space for reusing. The finding shows that community center, senior center, barn, office building of sugar company and traditional farmer house are five types of existing spaces which are available reused as community assisted living houses. Besides, the findings show that the variable of the healthy status is the most significant in the demands of the assisted living house than the variable of gender, age, living style, working type, and area distribution. In addition, the findings from the cross analysis also show the caring subjects, caring style, washing issue, issue of fleeing from the disaster, demands of outside activities, demands of occupational therapy, and the issue of unused space are significant on the basis of variables.
