Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 工業設計研究所 === 94 === Abstract Having been available in the higher education institute, distance learning is generally used for the purpose of dispatching the teaching instructions and notes. However, such a kind of learning environment limiting in offering communication channels for convey visual information is unlikely to be popular for design teaching and learning since design is an exercise involving significant activities concerning with communication and interaction with the visual material. Therefore, prior to the design of virtual classroom for design practice teaching and learning, it is important to explore the obstruction of on-line design practice teaching and learning. So far the video-conferening tools are usually evalulated by usability test. The study proposes that the results of learning grading could also play importantly in determining the appropriateness of distance communication tools used in design practice learning. However, it is found that no objective standard is available for the evaluation of design outcome and design learning. The study argues that the grading methods suggested in literature are unlikely to be applied thorough in design practice education, suggesting a need to reform the grading method for design practice learning. Therefore, the general aim of the study described in this proposal is to investigate how to conduct design practice teaching and learning via video communication tool, with a view to suggesting the grading methods for design education as well as identifying the design teaching and learning mode in virtual world. In order to identify the grading methods and criteria used by the design teachers, literature review and interview to the design teachers are conducted which resutls of a grading method for design practice learning. it is then followed by a conduction of on-line design practice course, in order to explore the feasibility of distance design practice teaching via video-conferencing tool using breakdown analysis, retrospective interview survey and the proposing grading method. Finally, by taking togather the reuslts from the above studies, the researcher propose the suggestion for conducing the on-line design practice course and the way of design learning grading. The results of this study are expected to give the contributions benefiting to the fields including the enhancement of effectiveness of distance design teaching and learning, the grading methods for design education, the cooperative design and the research concerning with design cognition, design thinking and computer-aided design.
