碩士 === 中華大學 === 資訊工程學系碩士班 === 93 === Many current IEEE 802.11-based wirelesses LAN environments just provide the wireless access function, and they do not support the mobility of portable computers. Although the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) proposed the Mobile IP Routing Protocol to provide portable devices with roaming capability, the Mobile IP is not widely adopted and supported due to some reasons, like maintenance cost and security. For compatible to the current wireless LAN environment, we propose a Portable IP Routing Protocol to provide the Mobile Node with roaming service. The proposed mechanism can be applied in the current IEEE 802.11-based wireless LAN environments.
