Until today, applications of bearings are broad, including:screw、engine main shaft, etc. In daily life, the most common use is to rotate parts around an axis, which is a part of the bearing. Therefore, a precise circularity of the rotating axis is very important which relates to the effect and the consequence. Data acquisition method can be classified into non-contact method and tactile method. Using tactile method, one must contact the object being measured. Therefore, the object can be easily contaminated or destroyed (e.g. caliper). Using non-contact method, one doesn’t have to contact the object. The range of precision is more likely to meet the need (e.g. laser scan meter). In this thesis, the experimental design is a sloped platform with one pair of major axes. This pair of major axes is driven by motor to make objects advance. When objects move from higher to lower through a fillister, laser light beam scans the test pattern from fillister and measures diameter of axes. The experimental design includes a control and measuring software. Through the serial port, an automated control software is designed to capture signals from a laser scan instrument and obtain measured diameters. In addition, signals are received from sensors and processed by the control software to control the electromagnetic gates using a DAQ card. Combing the non-contact method above, a precise axis diameter is measured, thus solve the original measuring problem.
