Therapeutic recreation on advanced country abroad is a professional academic. Not only has completed system of the certificates but also sets up therapeutic recreation specialized department in every large hospital. In comparision of the development in advanced countries’ therapeutic recreation, it is at embryonic stage in Taiwan. We shoud pay more attention on the cognitions and attitudes of medical professionals on therapeutic recreation. In addition,we have to develope the system of therapeutic recreation in Taiwan. Thus, the medical professionals was sampled and used questionnaires to explore their cognitions and attitudes toward therapeutic recreation. A total of 265 questionnaires were distributed and 134 of them are valid (valid rate: 50.6%). Some major conclusions were made as following by this study: 1.Medical professionals have high cognitions on therapeutic recreation. 2.Medical professionals have positive attitudes on therapeutic recreation. 3.In medical professionals characters:there are no significant difference on the cognitions of therapeutic recreation level on the sex groups, age groups, experience groups, position groups and department groups. 4.In medical professionals characters: the attitudes of therapeutic recreation are statistically different on the categories sex groups and position groups. 5.There was significant positive correlation in medical professionals’ cognitions and attitudes of therapeutic recreation.
