As a result, retailers are competing fiercely, with negative impact cycling for all competitors. The advantage of retail stores encompassed in shopping mall would exert a great deal of threat to department stores and wholesalers. This study is intended to investigate consumers’ behavior in the shopping mall, department stores and wholesalers. With the retail experience researched through literature review the present study is then to look into what and how retailers in the Kaohsiung-Pingtung region would have to do in market strategic making to gain competitive edge. The results are suggested below: 1. shopping mall- may locate countryside, use diversified entertainment, leisure facility and commodity to attract consumers. 2. department store- may locate in the center of city, use high quality, mid-high price to attract consumers. 3. wholesalers- may locate in the suburb, with sufficient parking space and affiliated facility, along with low priced commodity to attract consumers.
