More and more people enter urban area, so the type of land use changed continuously. There are many studies about land use transition in Taiwan. In the past, the most studies of land use emphasize the description of factors of location, society and economics, and lacking for the micro point of view to the developments of individual lands. So it is hard to understand the relation in individual lands. However, the factors which influence this change are too numerous to enumerate. Not only the influence of macro environment, but the interaction of neighborhoods is also the key factor to decide the changing pattern. The Cellular Automata(CA)is a theory which analyze the change of macro environment in a micro point of view. Therefore this study concludes the lands with highly potentiality by the means of Remote Sensing, GIS Spatial analysis technique and cells mode of CA in Nantung, Taichung. Then the study can understand the tendency of distribution and proposes suggestions for urban development. Then the study concludes these: 1、First, through the AHP to build potential of land use development evaluation system with the relation of eight factors and three levels. It results the「difference of distance to CBD」is the most important influence factors of all. 2、The analysis results the「difference of distance to main road」 is the main factor which leads to the distribution of potential of land use development. And most lands beside the main road have higher potential of development. 3、With Cells Mode In Cellular Automata and Model of Potential of Land Use Development, this study concludes the distribution of potential of land use development, includes five levels. Comparing with the development in 2002, the developing rate is 85% in first rank, and the total developing rate is 77.77%. 4、Other related studies about CA mostly apply areas of wide range, but this study tries to focus on small ones. However, this study finds that the difference of cells is not so remarkable in choosing influence factors. Lung-Shih Yang 楊龍士 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 73 zh-TW
