Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 建築與都市計畫所 === 93 === Taichung City is the third largest city with a booming business sector in Taiwan. Since it just passed one million mark, it was usually neglected in the past urban research. Then, the objective of this study is set to analyze the changes in spatial formation of the business sector in Taichung City. Unfortunately, there is no consecutive census data on business sector, only a sectional comparison of 1986, 1991, 1996 and 2001 is conducted. In order to have a better description of the changing pattern, li, the smallest administrative unit, is used as the basic spatial unit in the analysis. From the analysis results, the business sectoral density of the outskirts of the city, in particular toward the west, is gradually over the old core. Then, it clearly shows that the track of the centroid of business activity has gradually moved toward the western dirction. Also, it indicates that the importance of the old core is diminishing. In addition, there are several sub-centers forming at the area about 2-6 kms from the old core. Therefore, Taichung City is gradually showing a poly-center pattern in the spatial distribution of the business sector. Noting that, major development projects and road construcion are favoring a westward development trend. Then, all of the observations are showing the intented development strategy is working accordingly.
