As the capital of Taiwan, Taipei City is the main scope for the study. Through the space distribution, the study aims at the relationship between the tourist hotels and the Taipei City spacious development, and further discovers the major factors that have affected the historical changes which influenced Taipei City international tourist hotels locations. The study timeframe is between WWII (1945) and the present, and the study accords the 12 administrative districts of Taipei City as the space analysis unit. Through the analysis of the time and space changes of the Taipei City international tourist hotels, and the cross analysis of it with the Taipei City urban space changes to study the relationships of the two and the future possible development trends. The study methods include literature review and space analysis method. Based on the statistics of the result of the study, ever since 1945 up to now, the total number of international tourist hotels is at 36 (presently 26 ones, 6 non-operating, and 4 under construction). Among them, nearly 83.3% of the international tourist hotels are concentrated in the Chung-Shan, Sung-Shan, and Ta An District, as 18, 6, and 6 respectively. And Wan Hwa, Ta Tung, Chung Cheng, Hsin Yi, and Shih-Lin District for 1, 1, 1, 2, and 1, respectively. As to the outskirt Nei Hu, Nan Kang, Pei Tou, and Wen Shan, up to the present, there are not even one international tourist hotel in the four districts. The study primarily focus on the urban nuclear area development, commercial area planning, and major transportation constructions of Taipei City as the three major analysis foci, to explore whether there is relationship between the location change of the Taipei City international tourist hotels and the three above-mentioned aspects. The result finds that the location change of the Taipei City international tourist hotels is related to the urban nuclear area development and major transportation constructions, but less related to the commercial area planning; and the location distribution of the international tourist hotels has been obviously shifting toward east side of the city. The study predicts that in the future, the international tourist hotels will present themselves in mixture with the shopping center, and toward ordinary-rates tendency. In addition, due to the completeness of Taipei metro MRT networking, CKS Airport MRT Line and the High Speed Railway, in the future, conducting urban tourism and traveling by taking MRT, Airport MRT, and High Speed Railway will be a trend. The findings of the study may provide to the governmental authorities using as reference in the international tourist hotels zoning management policy as well as land use rezoning changing plan related.
