For dense wavelength division multiplexer (DWDM) networks, fiber gratings can be functioned as add/drop optical filters. For fiber sensors, fiber grating can be used for measuring temperature, strain or pressure etc. The content of this thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is that the package structure of fiber gratings is designed with the function of fine-tunable center wavelength. By means of this package configuration, the shift of Bragg wavelength can be compensated for keeping the constant wavelength in various levels of temperature. The second part is to investigate the effect of grating bandwidth change created by the coated UV glue. There exist several different methods to fabricate chirped fiber gratings at present. The general fabricating technique is to use a chirped mask method, but the chirped value cannot be changed. To use UV glue technique can provide a simple and effective method to transfer a uniform fiber grating into a chirped fiber grating for the special applications of fiber optics.
