Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 心理學系 === 93 === Abstract Mainland China is the main investment area for Taiwan investors actively at the time being. Thus, there was a tide that the families of the Taiwan investors were assignment to the Mainland with the need of work. According to the Mainland Affairs Council, the numbers of the Taiwan investors and their families will reach up to 300,000-500,000 in 2005 and this tide will be continued. People usually pay more attention to the working people and pay little attention to their families. When people were sent to work in the Mainland, their families’ structure, relation, families roles, children education condition, and so on were changed. Thus, deeply understanding expatriates’ issues, the family research plays an important part in the research of expatriates in the Mainland With a wife of the expatriate as the research subject, by using life history approach and narrative analysis as research methods, we would like to focus on the details of her life situations and difficulties in the life. The purpose of this research is to clearly illustrate and to understand expatriates’ family members’ life situations, adjustments, difficulties, and problems in the Mainland, in order to understand the critical contexts of their ideas, moods, and the self-improvement. From the result of this research, the subject changed from a dependable and non-confidence person to a full confident female. The research found the five challenges that she was facing in the Mainland were extramarital relations of the husband, busy working conditions of the husband, how to cope with the new environment, their children’s educational issues and her ill situation. The research subject adjusted her thinking way with full confidence to face new future after overcoming the five difficulties. The most contribution of this research is to 1) describe thoroughly and discuss what situations and problems that expatriate’s family might be facing in the Mainland, in order to know if her life adoption will affect expatriate’s work performance 2) take a look from the view of organizational management, under the pressure of work performance, with spouse and family’s support and understanding, the husband as an expatriate can handle the work more smoothly with full attention and has more success in his work . In conclusion, when the expatriates are being sent to work in the Mainland and the company want to achieve more success, how to arrange the life of their families is important and the arrangement setup would be careful in order to create a “support family” type of work environment. The research of “working people” by others in the future can not be overlooked with the point between work and family.
