碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 日本語文學系 === 93 === Kou-min-ka movement is started in July 7th, 1937, and ended in August 1st, 1945. There are 5 chapters in this thesis, they are Chapter 1 - The introduction, Chapter 2 - The beginning of Kou-min-ka movement, Chapter 3 – The early part of Kou-min-ka movement(1937-1940), Chapter 4- The late part of Kou-min-ka movement(1941-1945), and Chapter 5 – The conclusion. By the research of historical materials, this thesis try to find out what kind of influence that Kou-min-ka movement had brought into Taiwan’s society and culture, and also try to make the connection between these two more clear. In the early part of Kou-min-ka movement, it educated people as Kou-min who are suitable for country needs. In the late part of Kou-min-ka movement, it successfully put Hou-kou’s thought into Taiwan’s society by using cultural means. As a conclusion, Kou-min-ka movement has no attempt to change Taiwanese identity into Japanese; it only tried to make Taiwanese more useful to Japan at war. Kou-min-ka movement also made Taiwan’s culture more close to Japan.
