An ENS contains Web server that runs on an embedded system and is possible to provide a powerful Web-based management and control interface with tiny volume. Therefore, it will be very suitable for PQ remote monitoring and recording. The experimental platform used in this thesis is Samsung S3C4510-based embedded system. The S3C4510 is a SoC with network function embedded.This embedded system features an uClinux operating system; therefore, the design and implementation of the proposed ENS system will be more efficient and effective. An embedded PQ analyzer with appropriately designed I/O interface and peripherals is designed and implemented firstly. The PQ analyzing functions designed in the proposed system include 1) system voltage and frequency calculation, 2) harmonic spectra and total harmonic distortion calculation and 3) abnormal event recorder etc. In order to efficiently monitor the PQ variation and record the abnormal events, two Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) are developed in this thesis. These two HMIs are designed based on the LabVIEW and TCP/IP functions, and ActiveX and Web browser, respectively. Experimental results demonstrate the validity of the proposed system.
