This is being so called “mass-Knowledge intensive” Innovation is the core of the business concept. In the new “knowledge-based economy” and globalization era, the activity of enterprise innovation has become the key element of which impacts on the industrial competitiveness. However, the activity of enterprise innovation includes product or processes improvements, obtaining new materials, new packaging designs, modulating marketing strategies, creating new markets, reorganizing, and management changes etc. It is the time for Taiwan to transform the traditional industry to a new format; also manufacturing capacity is currently move to Mainland China. Many enterprises have increased their research and development investments into their businesses with new concepts to speed up the enterprise transformation process. Therefore, Taiwan’s apparel industries must understand their advantages and disadvantages in order to develop their own uniqueness innovation competition strategies or transformation strategies in today. The following are the findings of this research listed as follows 1.Taiwan’s apparel industries are gradually using innovative processes to improve their products in order to survive in today’s markets. These operating methods are very effective in the areas of technical skill, products, processes, organization and strategy, etc. changes. 2.From the competition strategy point of view, the Taiwan apparel industries are at their peak time. They used low costs strategy in the past. It is very difficult for Taiwan to compete with the countries in Southeast Asia with their low labor costs. Instead, many enterprises have used different and specialized strategies as basic business models by outsourcing via the OEM, ODM and OBM, etc. The method of innovative operation to create their business advantages so that they will be able to compete in the global markets. 3.In responding to global competition, the four major developing strategies for the apparel industries are (1) e-business (2) Enhance research and development to create competition advantage (3) Customer value oriented (4) Utilizing supply chain concept to operate and manage business Keyword:knowledge-based economy, innovation, Competitive strategy C.Wallace Wang.Ph.D 王秋華 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 140 zh-TW
