This study is base on the current operating condition in medical device sector to actually understand companies’ specific strategic alliance and the influencing factors within, and the implication of this competition advantage improvement. Result shows that under higher “Resource Dependence” and lower “Transaction cost” alliance motivation, international and local medical device companies use “Unilateral Contract-Based Alliances” more, and improvement of competition advantage quality is most noticeable following this strategic alliance. It is also discovered that companies afterward entering the market tend to use “Bilateral Contract-Based Alliances” whereas companies that are “the most influential in the market” tend to use “Minority Equity Alliances”.
