Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 資訊科學研究所 === 93 === In the past few years, we have witnessed the advancement of the technologies in contents digitization and multimedia compression. In addition, the bandwidth of Internet provided by telecom has also increased dramaticly. Consequently, many applications, such as Video conference, Distance learning, Voice over IP (VoIP), Video on demand (VoD), etc., that used to be non-pratical have become possible. These applications, in turn, bring along the revolution to our life style and become an inseparable part of our daily life. In this thesis, we introduce the Multimedia On Demand (MOD) services offerened by Chunghwa Telecom today, including system architecture, network topology, network components, Video server, operation protocols, and digital stream delivery technologies. After examining the current offering, we found that there still many issues that need to be addressed, such as long power up time, large bandwidth consumption, and unexpected interruption of video streaming, etc. We studies those issues and propose solutions for system improvement.
