Therefore, in order to save the cost and to expand the market, more and more system manufacturers have ported the multimedia application systems developed on PCs to the embedded system platforms. And the TMS320DM270 platform developed by Texas Instruments is designed for the embedded multimedia system and applications. In this thesis, we studied the PCMCIA standard in detail, and ported the open source software system “pcmcia-cs” (stand for PCMCIA Card Servcies) to the TMS320DM270 platform to make the platform be able to access the wireless LAN card with CompactFlash interface and moreover to access the wireless networks. Through the access of the wireless networks, there will be more extensive application development functionality for the TM320DM270 platform in the embedded multimedia system development.
