Absorption spectral study indicates that the molar extinction coefficients of H2TDPAPP (meso-tetra-p- (di-p-phenylamino)phenylporpyrin) and H2TDTAPP (meso- tetra-p-(di-p-tolylamino)phenylporphyrin) are lower than these of H2TPP (meso-tetraphenylporphyrin). The bandwidths of B band are broader and the oscillator strengths of Q band become stronger. Emission spectral study suggests intramolecular singlet engery transfer from TPA units to the porphyrin core and the fluorescence quantum yields are calculated. Electrochemical study indicates that the strong electron-donating properties of TPA groups affect the porphyrin rings, which are easier to be oxidized and harder to be reduced. Spectroelectrochemical study indicates that the cation radicals exhibit an absorption spectrum located in the NIR region suggesting intramolecular electron transfer has occurred. H2TDPAPP and ZnTDPAPP can be electropolymerized by oxidative scans on GCE or Pt. The properties of the modified electrodes are examined in pH 7.4 phosphate buffer containing various analytes.
