A group of story-telling mothers who devoted themselves to reading stories was to children in schools or communities all over Taiwan. Semistructured in-depth interviews were the major method for developing the research. The six interviewees were〝Yunling story-tellers〞. After interviewing all the six participants, the tape-recorded data was written down quote-by-quote.Furthermore, the thematic analysis was used to identify and clarify the themes. After intersubjective agreements with the participants, four essential themes were identified. These findings were developed as the following: (a)Opening the story gate: a description of the motivation and chance which encouraged the story-telling mothers to participate the story-telling activity. They all started form telling stories to their own kids. (b) Spreading the seeds of the story: a description of the story-telling mothers' thinking and ideas. Story-telling mothers like to choose picture books and disscuss with children in telling stories. They hope to cause the childrens' plural intelligence and train good character from it. (c)Opening the story treasure box: a description of the story-telling mothers' pleasure, challenges, and frustrations in telling a story. (d)Intelligence in the story: a description of what the story-telling mothers' idea learned from being involved in the story-telling activities and now they grow more mature and confident and influence their families. Finally, according to the findings, this thesis concludes with the implications for the story-telling mothers, the government, schools, and family education as well as suggestions for future researches. 廖永靜 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 118 zh-TW
