It was thought that could clear away pathogens, stop the pain by cooling blood, keep parasites away. The crude acetone extract of Cyathea lepifera (J. Sm.) Copel. was separated and purified by adsorbent resin, silica gel and reversed-phase chromatography to give twelve compounds, β-sitosterol (1)、β-sitosteryl-D-glucoside (2)、cyclolaudenol (3)、cyclolaudenol acetate (4)、protocatechuic acid (5)、vanillic acid (6)、Protocatechuic acid-4-O-β-glucoside (7)、O1-vanilloyl-β-D- glucopyranose (8)、4-(3,4-dihydroxy-phenyl)-but-3-en-2- one (9)、4-O-β-D-glucopyranosylcaffeic acid (10)與dodecanoic acid methyl ester (11). Their structures were identified by comparison of their physical and spectroscopic data with those reported in the literature and authentic samples. Among them, compound 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 are isolated from this plant for first time. In the antivirus activation in vitro test, DRCR-k01, DRCR-k02, DRCR-k03 and DRCR-k05 at dose of 10 μg/ml exhibited significantly inhibition for adenovirus in Hep-2 cells line. The mechanism of these effects remains to be clarified.
