The purpose of this research was to discuss the concept of indirect comparison of length of the primary school students in the country. The research was based on the ‘‘Survey Research Methods’’. And there are two samples being tested, one is called pre-tested sample which is applied among the students in two grade four classes in the zhong-zhong primary school, while the other is called normal tested sample which is applied among the students in two classes from grade one to grade four in the xin-xin primary school. Totally the number of students involved is 248. According to this research, the main findings of the research are as follows:
1.In conception of reproduction of length, there is diversity but no correlation in the act of length measurement and line drawing.
2.In conception of conservation of length, it is the concept of “Change of Position” the preconception of the concept of “Distortion of Shape”, while the concept of “Change of Position” has no relation with the concept of “Division”.
3.In conception of transitivity of length, it is the concept of “If A>B, B>C, then A>C” the preconception of the concept of “If Jia = Yi, Yi = Bing, then Jia= Bing”.
4.In conception of indirect comparison of length, it is the concept of “Reproduction of Length”,“Conservation of Length”, “Transitivity of Length” the preconception of the concept of “Indirect Comparison of Length”. And the concept of “Conservation of Length” is the preconception of the concept of “Transitivity of Length”.
5.The research frames up an entire structure of student’s cognitive conception of indirect comparison of length.
