Summary:碩士 === 國立花蓮師範學院 === 幼兒教育學系碩士班 === 93 === This study used qualitative research to discuss the leadership of a male kindergarten director, given the following three objectives: 1. to understand the how the male kindergarten director formed his leadership style; 2. to discuss how the male kindergarten director displayed his leadership style and the characteristics of this leadership style; 3. conclude the research results to provide reference to education bureaus on the leadership of male kindergarten directors. The research used methods of interview, observation, and literature review to collect the data. The findings are as the following: the formation of Director Wang’s leadership style is influenced by his experience, such as 1) being a full-time military personnel so that he would take full responsibilities of teachers’ faults and solve the problems; 2) furthered his education in management; 3) with experience of administrative work in high school, thus, he would get on track quickly. The leadership style and characteristics include: 1) use administrative hierarchy; 2) limited authorization; 3) with sense of responsibility; 4) expression of care; 5) communication method with the faculty and staff; 6) keen observation; 7) maintain equal distance relationship with the teachers; 8) establish special features for the kindergarten. Based on the above findings, it is suggested to the director to implement teachers evaluation to strength the basis for the professional growth of the teachers, establish the communication channels between the director and teachers to understand the teachers’ thoughts, improve the ability of teachers in writing teaching plans, establish a teaching system unique to the kindergarten. As for the education bureaus, it is suggested to add leadership and cross-gender related education to early childhood education program, so that both male and female novice directors could have academic background in this field and get on track quickly. Lastly, it is suggested to direct the future research in the administrative leadership and teaching leadership of the novice kindergarten director.
