This qualitative study explored child-rearing beliefs of Vietnamese brides in Taiwan. Data were gathered through in interviews. Findings indicated that participants’ beliefs are influenced by some factors, such as environments, native culture, and personal experiences. Reconceptualization in child-rearing beliefs and manners has taken place among participants. They provided a good educational to their children. They request their children can be have filial piety, moral character, independenee and a good person. They expressed concern about heeding children’s voices and psychological needs. They give high priority to the use of reasoning in regulating children’s behaviors. However, many of them still perceived spanking positively as last resort in some disciplinary situation. Child-rearing beliefs of Vietnamese brides were highly contextualized. Readers need to take caution in conveying what is desirable or undesirable child-rearing to parents.
