Recent EU eastward enlargement did not only successfully brought the peace (the end of cold war period) between Eastern and Western Europe countries, openned new era of Europe politics and society, but it also created the world’s largest single market.
As the emergence of EU eastward enlargement, world’s economy will be influenced, including economic growth and international competition. However, some negative impacts of EU eastward enlargement might be found. They occur mainly due to unfair international trade. This study will mainly analyze the important economic impacts of EU eastward enlargement, by trading relations and invesment agreements, including, “trade creation effect, trade divertion effect, investment creation effect and investmeThe study investigated and found out, that after the EU enlargement, all can be observed the trade and investment creation and divertion effects. These phenomenons will negatively influence Taiwan’s export and import, international foreign direct invesment outflow and inflow. In the world globalization trading trend, Taiwan is threatened by being marginalized excluded from international economy arena.
