碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 應用日語所 === 93 === Ougai Mori gets the name of "Great writer at Meiji era" as well as Souseki Natsume.After in the 1897's, Souseki finally accomplished the dream of going abroad to study in British. Ougai went abroad earlier than Souseki.From October,1884 to July,1888,Ougai received the instruction of Department of the Army to stay more than three years in Germany.As an army surgeon in public,he went abroad for the research of hygienics and the medicine. In private,he also studied The West literature, the art, and the philosophy.When he went back to Japan,he put knowledge to use,he tried to translate European literature and write novels.His most important work at this time was novels written in old Japanese,such as "Maihime","Utakata no ki",and "Fumidukai",etc.He temporarily stopped writing novels after 1895.After 1907's,he received stimulation to the activity of Soseki Natsume and the fashion of the naturalism literature, and started the novel creation again. In this thesis,I concentrate on the novels written in the 1887's, "Maihime","Utakata no ki",and "Fumidukai",so-called Germany 3 work and the novels written in mordern Japanese "Fushintyu","Seinen",and "Gan",which are written after 1907.I tried to put the love consideration in view, and made it to essay. A common concept in a series of novel is "resignation".That is to said,the conclusion that the concept "Resignation" was obtained in the tale of tragic love.
