The teacher used the tutoring sessions and the alternative learning periods to conduct a 12-week English picture books teaching and multiple activities. Through qualitative data such as observation notes, teaching videos, teaching discussions and interviewing students, the picture books teaching plan based on the theory of multiple intelligences was designed, the implementation process of applying multiple intelligences theory in elementary school’s English teaching was analyzed, the benefits to teachers and students from the study, the difficulties encountered during the implementation process and their countermeasures were examined. The conclusion from this research is as follows: 1. The English picture books teaching based on the theory of multiple intelligences is beneficial to children’s development of multiple intelligences and increases their English learning efficiency. 2. The English picture books teaching based on the theory of multiple intelligences stirs up students’ enthusiasm in English learning and opens another door in learning English. 3. Properly solving the problems encountered during the English picture books teaching based on the theory of multiple intelligences increases teachers’ teaching efficiency. 4. Multiple intelligences theory helps the teachers understand the individual differences and learn to accept their students. 5. English picture books teaching based on the theory of multiple intelligences increases teachers’ understanding of multiple intelligences and uncovers feasible procedures for teaching English picture books. Abstract
This research used a class in the fourth grade as the object. The teacher used the tutoring sessions and the alternative learning periods to conduct a 12-week English picture books teaching and multiple activities.
