Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 教育學系 === 93 === The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between principals,paternalistic leadership and teachers’ morale in Kaohsiung elementary schools. The main purposes are as the following:
1.To investigate the present situation of principals’ paternalistic
leadership and teachers’ morale in Kaohsiung elementary schools.
2.To realize the relations about background variables on principals’
paternalistic leadership and teachers’ morale in Kaohsiung elementary schools.
3.To explore the relations on principals’ paternalistic leadership
and teachers’ morale in Kaohsiung elementary schools.
4.According to the results, suggestions are provided for principals,
teachers in Kaohsiung elementary schools, and researchers in the
future.
To attain the goals above, questionary survey method is adapted. The researcher takes the teachers in Kaohsiung elementary schools as the population and gets samples by stratified random sampling.659 samples are effective among 730 teachers and the rate of retrieve is 90.27 %. In addition to some personal basic information, two scales are used in the study as well, including principals’ paternalistic leadership scale and teachers’ morale scale. Analytic data are rendered in some ways, including descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, and Multiple stepwise regression analysis. The results are summarized as follows:
1.The principals in elementary schools perform above mezzo behaviors
of Paternalistic Leadership especially moral leadership.
2.The teachers have high teacher morale especially the performance
of work input better.
3.The principals who are male, experienced in middle-sized schools
perform more behaviors of Paternalistic Leadership.
4.The teachers who are elder, experienced, high educational
background and part-time rector realize that the principals
perform more behaviors of Paternalistic Leadership.
5.Under the elder and middle-sized schools’ principals leading,
teachers have higher teacher morale.
6.The teachers who are elder, experienced, high educational
background and part-time rector have higher teacher morale.
7.The principals perform morale and benevolent leadership promotes
the teacher morale. However, if the principals perform
authoritarian leadership, the teacher morale will demote.
8.Teachers identify with the principals’ behaviors of morale
leadership could help raise the teacher morale and thus have
the best effect.
Based on the purposes of the researcher, literature review, and data analysis results, some suggestions are offered as followers for principles, teachers in elementary schools, and future research papers.
