A judgment-based sampling method (e.g.、a self-designed questionnaire) was used to measure Kaohsiung metropolitan middle school students』 attitude and acknowledge. Collected data were analyzed by t-test、one-way and two-way ANOVA、MANOVA and Pearson correlation statistical methods. The results of this study show the following: (1) The background and characteristics of the tested students play a significant role on student’s acknowledge about the diseases. Females test scores showed a greater degree of acknowledge of infectious diseases. Students who live in urban areas have higher scores regarding acknowledge of the diseases than those live in the suburbs. Senior students have higher acknowledge of the diseases than juniors. Students with highly educated parents demonstrated higher acknowledge. Students whose parents are government officers or business leaders got higher scores. Overall、most tested students have passing grades regarding acknowledge of infectious diseases. (2) Generally speaking、most students have a positive attitude when facing infectious diseases. There are significant differences between student’s viewpoints of infectious diseases and their parents』 highest educational level. Students with higher-educated parents show positive viewpoints when facing the diseases. (3) There is a positive correlation between the acknowledge and attitude toward infectious diseases. (i.e.、more accurate understanding of the diseases will lead to more positive views.)
