Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東師範學院 === 教育行政研究所 === 93 === The purpose of this study is to realize the current situation of the professional growth and teaching effectiveness of English teachers in elementary school in Ping-Tung County and analyze the relationship of the two. Based on the result, raising suggestions for the reference of educational administrative organizations, elementary schools, English teachers, and future research. The information for this research is collected through literature analysis and questionnaires. The objects of the questionnaires are mainly from 96 primary schools, 96 English teachers, and 233 general teachers in Ping-Tung County. The research tool is “questionnaires of professional growth and teaching effectiveness of English teachers in elementary school in Ping-Tung County”. The analysis of the data collection is in accordance with Average, Standard Deviation, T-test, One-Way ANOVA, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation. The results of the study are as follows: 1.The professional growth of the elementary school English teachers is above average. Both English teachers and general teachers consider that English profession Knowledge is the best among the four dimensions of professional growth investigated. 2.The teaching effectiveness of the elementary school English teachers is above average. English teachers consider that instruction planning is the best among the four dimensions of teaching effectiveness investigated. General teachers consider that teaching evaluation is the best among the four dimensions of teaching effectiveness investigated. 3.The current situation of the professional growth of English teachers in elementary school is significantly different among the following teachers’ background variables: position and school location. 4.The current situation of the teaching effectiveness of English teachers in elementary school is significantly different among the following teachers’ background variables: sex. 5.There are significant correlated between English teachers professional growth and teaching effectiveness. Based on conclusion, the suggestions are raised for educational administrative organizations, elementary schools, English teachers, and future academic research.
