Abstract
The directors of academic affairs were the most important curriculum leadership in elementary school. Curriculum leadership and teachers’ teaching effectiveness
developed curriculum development and effectuation. The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status and relationship between the directors’ of academic affairs curriculum leadership and the teachers’ teaching effectiveness in elementary school.The school educators in Taichung County, Taichung City, Changhua County andNantou County were adopted to be objects of study. The study used self-designedquestionnaire of the relationship between the directors’ of academic affairs curriculum leadership and the teachers’ teaching effectiveness in elementary school . The surveysubjects included 994 school educators were sampled in a random way. The numberof retrieval was 733 copies. There were 710 valid surveys received. According tostatistics and analysis of the returned data, several conclusions were acquired as follows:
1. The school educators in the central counties of Taiwan approved the directors’ of academic affairs curriculum leadership and the teachers’ teaching effectiveness .
2. There were significant correlation between the educators with four background variables ( age, service seniority , the school size , the school location)and the directors’ of academic affairs curriculum leadership.
3. The school educators in the central Taiwan agreed that there were significant correlation between the directors’ of academic affairs curriculum leadershipand the teachers’ teaching effectiveness.
4. The male educators had rather approved than the female educators about the directors’ of academic affairs curriculum leadership.
5. The principals had rather approved than the teachers about the directors’ ofacademic affairs curriculum leadership.
6. The educators who were older than 51 years old had rather approved than the educators who were between 31 and 40 years old about the directors’ ofacademic affairs curriculum leadership.
7. The educators with different school size approved the directors’ of academic affairs curriculum leadership were significant differentness.
8. The educators of general districts had rather approved than the educators of remote districts about the directors’ of academic affairs curriculum leadership.
9. If the directors’ of academic affairs curriculum leadership were better, the teachers’ teaching effectiveness were better, too.
10. There were statistical significance that the directors’ curriculum leadershippredicted the teachers’ teaching effectiveness, sequenced evaluation ofcurriculum and teaching, democratic organizational culture and amplifycurriculum administration.
According to the conclusions mentioned above , several suggestions can be proposed for reference as follows:
1.Suggestions for educational administrative organizations
(1) To converge educational resources across school areas,and to eliminate curriculum leadership resistance of the director of acamedic affairs.
(2) To emphasize the curriculum leadership ability and in-service of the director of acamedic affairs.
(3) To provide evaluating mechanism of curriculum leadership for the director of acamedic affairs.
(4) To build evaluating system of teachers’ teaching effectiveness.
2. Suggestions for educators of elementary school
(1) Director of acamedic affairs should emphasize curriculum leadership,converge school educators to build the ability of curriculum and teaching proffesion.
(2) Director of acamedic affairs should converge school educators , envalue the development of curriculum , form school communal vision, advance the plan of curriculum design.
(3) The curriculum leadership should form the democratic organizational culture , build the place of teacher professional development.
(4) School should provide administrative management based on curriculum, and enlarge the sphere of participation.
