Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 教師在職進修自然碩士學位班 === 93 === Four transect plots were established in Chungtzekuan area southern Taiwan to investigate the composition of tree seedling and herb in the understory layer. There are 47 species of tree seedlings and 29 species of herbs in this study. The dominant families of tree seedling are Lauraceae, Fagaceae and Theaceae, and the dominant species of tree seedlings are Ardisia cornudentata, Beilschmiedia erythrophloia, Hydrangea chinesia, Bamnacanthus indicus and Litsea acuminate. In herb, 18 species of pteridophytes, 3 species of dicotyledons, and 8 species of monocotylendons are recorded, and few species such as Arachniodes pseudo-aristata, Miscanthus floridulus and Dryopteris formosana are dominant in this plot. According to two-way indicator species analysis (TWINSPAN), tree seedling and herb can respectively divided into two societies. Tree seedling societies have significantly differences in the environment factors such as density, covering area, altitude, slope, light and water content. Herb societies also have the same significantly differences as mentioned above in the tree seedling societies except density and covering area. The type of living area of understory plants has certain identity with the plants lived in upper region though just few differences are founded in some plots. It would be more convenient and practicable to determine the differences of than that by analyzing woody ones. Three types of tree seedling distributional pattern were classified:1) steep slope type including 17 species such as Hydrangea chinensis, Rhododendron latoucheae and Acer albopyrpurascens etc.; 2) slow slope type including 11 species such as Neolitsea aciculate, Symplocos modesta and Oreocnide pedunculata etc.; and 3) random type including 19 species such as Ardisia cornudentata, Damnacanthus indicus and Litsea acuminate. Three types of herb distributional pattern were also classified:1) steep slope type including 12 species such as Miscanthus floridulus, Nephrolepis auriculata and Carex filicina etc.; 2) slow slope type including 11 species such as Elatostema lineolatum, Oplismenus hirtethus and Pteris biaurita etc.; and 3) random type including 6 species such as Arachinodes pseudo-aristata, Alpinina procei sessiliflors and Dryopteris forniosana. The results of Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA)for vegetation and environmental factors reveal that the main environments which reflect understory plants are altitude, slope, light and water content. The slope is one of the most important factors in vegetation types and plant distributional pattern.
