The sample plot was at altitudes of 1900 m at the downgrade of the Chungtzekuan old path. The total area is 0.8 ha. The two families that had the most dominance species were Lauaceae and Fagaceae. This proposal is aim to investigate the composition of the vines and epiphytes, and the relationships with their host trees and environment. The research came to the following results: There were 25 families and 46 species of vines, and the dominated species were Tetrastigma bioritsense, Smilax lanceifolia, Embelia rudis, Piper kadsura, and Smilax odoratissima. Also, there were 11 families and 24 species of epiphytes, and the dominated species were Lemmaphyllum microphyllum, Lepisorus thunbergianus, Peperomia reflexa, Davallia mariesii and Pyrrosia lingua. The distribution of the vines and epiphytes depended on the dominated species of the host trees. The vines prefered Beilschmiedia erythrophloia, Machilus thunbergii and Castanopsis carlesii, and didn’t like Hydrangea chinensis and Ardisia cornudentata morrisonensi. The epiphytes prefered Machilus thunbergii, Cyclobalanopsis longinux, Castanopsis carlesii and Hydrangea chinensis, and did not like Ardisia cornudentata morrisonensi. The vines and epiphytes significantly prefered the larger DBH of the host trees, especially the epiphytes. They apparently didn’t like the smaller DBH of the host trees. The vines were increasing by the vertical level of shrubs and decreasing by the vertical level of trees. The largest amount of epiphytes was on level A. The stands of epiphytes were getting poor from level A to level E. The epiphytes mostly appeared in the eastern and the northern aspects. This may be because of sunlight and humidity. According to the results of CCA, the distribution of the vines and epiphytes were deeply affected by altitude, slope, light and water of the soil. Slope was the major environment factor.
