Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 教育經營與管理研究所 === 93 === The purpose of this study is to understand changing features of autonomy, mastery, self-concept, anxiety, and theme of play in play therapy process on the child with cancer. It is a participant observation study, where the subject is a 12 years boy with cancer, and he was engaged in play therapy once a week for 9 sessions; 50 minutes a session. Videos and tape-records were used for recording sessions, which were analyzes through opening coding, conceptualizing and axial coding. The findings of the study were as the following: 1.By changing the features of anxiety, the client has experiences of medical understanding and emotions of medical treatments to face his anxiety, however, he uses displaced behaviors to cope with his anxiety of being hospitalized. The anxiety of the client are classified into four categories, including experiences of medical understanding, anxiety of death, understanding of death, anxiety of being hospitalized, but these four categories can not be controlled by the client. Therefore, a part of anxiety is still with the client. 2.By changing features of self-concepts, the client has more negative self-concepts than positive self-concepts. He accepts only his appearance in a safe environment, like in hospital, or in the face of parents. At school, he has been unaccepted by his classmates, and which brought him more negative self-concepts. Except for that, he still expects for future. 3.Through changing the features of autonomy and mastery, the client can obtain the power of mastery from the activities of play. 4.By changing features of theme of play, the client would project his real needs from the themes which he shows in activities of play.
