The purpose of the study is to answer following questions: 1. How is the situation of students’ personal factors, experiences, campus environment perception, and the sense of their competence? 2. Is there any relationship between students’ personal factors and the development of competence sense? 3. Is there any relationship between personal experiences and development of competence sense? 4. Is there any relationship between campus environment perception and development of competence sense? 5. Is there any relationship among students’ personal factors, experiences, and campus environment perception in affecting the development of their competence sense? 6. Do students’ personal factors, experiences, and school environment perception respectively have identical relationship with their competence sense, including intellectual competence, physical and manual competence, and interpersonal competence? The samples are selected from the students of NCKU. The study collects data by self-report based on the questionnaire named “The Scale of College Students’ Competence Sense and Campus Environment Perception”. There were totally one thousand and two hundred questionnaires sent out, one thousand and twenty-six sent back. Among these questionnaires, there are 864 valid samples. The results are as follows: (1) among the students taking the questionnaire, one-fourth students never participated in any school club; only one-fifth students ever had a part-time job in school; and one-third students would surf on the internet at least 4 hours per day. (2) Personal factors are the main factors affecting the development of physical and manual competence and they have little affection on competence sense, intellectual competence, and interpersonal competence. (3) Personal experiences have little influence on students’ competence sense, intellectual competence, physical and manual competence, and interpersonal competence. (4) Campus environment perception is the main factor of affecting students’ competence sense, intellectual competence, and interpersonal competence and is one of the key factors influencing development of physical and manual competence. (5) Students’ personal factors, experiences, and campus environment perception have relationship with students’ competence sense. (6) Each variable of students’ personal factors, experiences, and campus environment perception has different influence on competence sense, intellectual, physical and manual competence, and interpersonal competence.
