According to researches, we found that : accumulating time of separate exercise also has the effects on cardiopulmonary fitness. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of eight-week different intensity run-walk exercise on cardiopulmonary fitness in junior high school boy students. Method: Thirty adolescents (age=14.2±0.4 yrs, VO2max=46.88±5.15 ml/kg/min) were recruited as the subjects for this study. They were divided into three different groups at random: middle intensity(60%VO2R)discontinuous exercise group (MDG), low intensity(40%VO2R)discontinuous exercise group (LDG) and control group (CG). MDG and LDG performed two bouts of run-walk exercise lasting for 15 minutes every time (three times/week, 8weeks). CG did not do any exercise except PE classes. Their VO2max were measured after 8-weeks. Data obtained before and after the test were analyzed through SAS statistic software. One - way ANOVA was used to analyze the different intensity of exercise. Paired t test and Tukey post hoct – comparison were used to analyze data if there was a significant difference. Results: 1) MDG improved in VO2max, and treadmill running performance (p<.05), and HRrest was decreased . 2) LDG decreased in HRrest (p<.05)but there is no significant influence in VO2max and treadmill running performance. 3) All of the three groups had significant increase in VEmax, but there is no difference in HRmax. Conclusions: middle intensity discontinuous run-walk exercise has the effects improving the cardiopulmonary fitness in adolescents, but low intensity discontinuous run-walk exercise only has the effects to maintain cardiopulmonary fitness .
