To test the drift theory, a rubber model was dropped into the sea near the coast of Danshui and recorded the positions of the model with the global position system. Current and wind data during the periods of tests were also recorded by an observation tower near the testing area. The tidal current near the testing area was also estimated from the water depth in testing area and the tide data in Danshui. The results of two tests showed that the positions derived from the tidal current estimated from tide data are much closer to the model positions than that derived from observation data. Owing to the limitation of time and money, only two tests can be done in this study. According to the two tests, we might conclude that the drift theory in the search and rescue procedures developed the USCG can be applied to the coastal ocean near Danshui, however, more tests are necessary. Besides that, in order to identify the viewing distance between the rescuer and the person under rescued, the human eyes and radar observed a tower at the same time. From the data, the relationship between both observations is ambiguous because of the weather and ocean conditions. Chung-Ru Ho 何宗儒 學位論文 ; thesis 83 zh-TW |
