Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立台北師範學院 === 幼兒教育學系碩士班 === 93 === Abstract The purpose of this study is to understand the narrative content from the wordless picture book “Snowman” and “ Don` t forget me, father christmas”, and the narrative performance by children constructing this two wordless picture book. This study adopts the narrative structure in wordless picture book by Ho(2004) to analyze the text of this two wordless books. According to the seven story grammar proposed by Stein and Glenn (1979) to analyze the children`s narrative performance. The conclusion as follow: 1. Narrative element that exists in the “setting” As we can find the content of the narrative performance by children, children don’t mind nor care the setting and time should be involved in the story, but the description of the character would definitely be in their narrative. 2.Trigger of the “initiating events” Children won’t be limited by the pictures in the book when they’re trying to construct its meaning. But they sure can connect the partial story from the beginning to the end with reasonable structure accordingly. 3.Performing of the “internal response” In this matter, children always use the method of providing dialogue to achieve the goal of expressing their own words. 4.”Beginning” and the last result of the “Attempts” When children are constructing, they’re easily to put more attention on the gesture of the main characters, thought the description of the gestures and action, pictures and images can productively combine together. But it’s different from picture in the list of movement that caused by the performances of direct consequences. 5.Judgment for the “Reactions” Children all have reaction to these two wordless picture book’s narrative performance. Children tend to have more feeling description to ”Snowman”, and more emotional description to “Don` t forget me, father christmas ”. 6.The links of Narrative event Children usually use “then” and “afterwards” to connect between sentences.
