Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 都市計劃研究所 === 93 === Owing to globalization, the role of megacity, in a sense as “nods” connecting with other cities or areas all around the world, gradually becomes crucial when being compared with those of regions or nations. With the consequent processes of factor specialization which help develop the Four Dragons’ prosperities in the 1980’s and the related market opening of countries such as China and Vietnam, East Asia has been benefited from the fruition of globalization and becomes the world’s largest market. In order to understand the competitive relationship between main metropolitans in East Asia, the author first selects suitable research objects according to the idea of organization of world city, and then, through comparing advantages and disadvantages of existing measure system of city competitiveness indexes, constructs a sound index measure system. With a variety of multi-variance analysis approaches, the author wishes to make comparisons between cities so that they can reflect the genuine performances of East Asian metropolitans under competition, and to propose the suggestions for government in policy-making to promote the nation’s city competitiveness. The author hopes to reach the following goals: 1. establishing integrated indexes to reflect the performance; 2. estimating future urban development with index system through analyzing its present situation and transition; 3. measuring the results of competitiveness of East Asian cities by using a variety of analytical statistic approaches; 4. providing political suggestions for government to catch up with world trends. After analyzing the present situation and transitional processes with established competitiveness index system, this paper concludes: 1. Manila、Ho Chi Minh、Shanghai、Kuala Lumpur、Bangkok are inclined to grow persistently in the future, while Tokyo、Taipei、Kaoshiung、Hong Kong are prone to slow down; 2. the competitiveness of selected cities can be ranked as:Tokyo、Osaka、Singpore、Seoul、Hong Kong、Taipei、Kaoshiung、Shanghai、Beijing、Kuala Lumpur、Bangkok、Ho Chi Minh、Jakarta. According to the result suggests that: 1. the government should emphasize more on environment-oriented indexes ; 2. Taipei and Kaoshiung should do effort to catch up with Seoul、Hong Kong、Singpore ; in addition , notice for the growing situation of Shanghai and Beijing ; 3. establishing urban statistical data of East Asian cities.
