Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 教育研究所 === 93 === “Stratification” is a common phenomenon in the human history. But every strata system have to get the recognition from most people within it and maintain its legitimacy to make sure that it can work well forever. Among those theories about stratification, Pierre Bourdieu especially emphasized that cultural capital played the critical role in social stratification. His research pointed out that: a person who grew up from different stratsa or has different social economic status would cultivate their own「haitus」and development different life styles which decided their culture capital. But the fact that cultural capital is usually seen as a person’s own gift not only veils the social inequality but legitimates the unequal strata system through its effects on strata identification. However, review the researchs about the strata identification in Taiwan, the conclusion is that cultural capital still can’t effectively rise a person’s strata identi- fication. There are two possible causes: one is that the data analyzed by those research was too old and cultural capital didn’t have considerable domination to the social structure at that time. This research uses the data”Taiwan Social Change Survey: the Third Survey of the Fourth Cycle” which was conducted at 2002 to research whether strata identification is strongly effected by cultural capital. Comparing to previous studies, this research not only can examine the tendency of the social changme but reinforce the measure of cultural capital. Inspired by Bourdieu, this article uses the framework of social space and brings cultural capital into the quantitative research of strata identification. The conclusion is that:1. Not only Social economic status-education, job and income, but also cultural capital independently and positively effects a person’s strata identification. 2. Social economic status not only has positive effects on cultural captital but also positivily effects the strata identification through its positive influence on cultural capital. As a result, this can help the unqueal strata system maintain its legitimacy and make it work well
