E.(1983) indicates media s a tool of message transmission, and Marshall McLuhan(1999) believes that “media is message.” Both scholars closely relate message and media. In the field of electronic media, messages contain not written words or language only, but also sounds, lighting, images, contents of news, and screen shot formats. In terms of audio-video function, these messages carried by television are not simply to satisfy viewers’ needs for messages, rather, they cause direct impact on viewers’ sensations, which affect the transmission process of information. Screen shot formats of television news are rarely studied here in Taiwan. They sometimes created by television program directors and computer graphic technicians with various intentions, mostly to attract viewers’ attention to keep watching TV and to influence their interpretations to the news. This study aims to examine, to what degree, different designs of screen shot formats of TV news cause to affect viewers. This study uses a polling of 160 Taipei citizens and an in-depth interview of four scholars and four professional TV news workers. The results confirm better screen shot formats would improve viewers willing to watch TV news. The findings for screen shot format are as following, 1. The best position of anchorperson on screen, could be on the left or the right side, and be it in accordance with golden ratio. 2. The number of visual aid should be related with the content of news; one or two are adequate, while four are the most. 3. For the shape of visual aid, rectangle is the best choice for hard news, while oval or uneven arch shapes are suitable for soft news. 4. The color of visual components should be coincided with the nature of news. 5. The type of visual message prefers to be concise and simple; five are the most. 謝章富 黃增榮 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 191 zh-TW |
