Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 工業管理系 === 93 === In Taiwan, TFT-LCD is the most important photoelectric industry these years. To fight for the competitions from Korea and Japan, all panel companies warily endeavor in not only the quality improvement, but also the cost reduction.
Taiwan companies started to invest the TFT-LCD panel industry through the technical transfer from Japan. Within 4 year, the market shares of Taiwan taken the place of Japan and became the 2nd. It’s expected that Taiwan will challenge the No. 1 with Korea by the end of 2004. In this highly complicated panel industry, Taiwan has proved again its outstanding capability in the area of mass production and management.
This study, through collecting, deciphering data from past development of TFT- LCD industry, and performing “ Five-Forces”, “SWOT” analysis, has generated development strategy recommendations for today’s Taiwanese TFT-LCD panel manufacturers. Hopefully, these recommendations can help domestic panel manufacturers to win this brutal war.
The result of this study indicates that the competitive advantages of Taiwan’s TFT-LCD firms are: Flexibility manufacturing capability and excellent market channel, most of the firms in Taiwan vertical allied with supplier and market channel activity to optimize and improve the coordination of every value activities to enhance company’s competitive advantages. The businesses have to from establishing of flexibility for organization, giving up consideration to change trend of the industrial structure, holding the keys to success, and coming up a businesses competitive strategies. And then look for the industrial merging and perpendicular integrate the up, the middle and the down stream of industrial. Finally, I suggest that government should provide a steady investment environment and team up to proceed the research and development of new products technology, And to obtain of forceful the competitive strategies.
