Some basic mechanical properties of mostly used joint types are also presented. An analysis of a ductile iron pipe joint system based on Northridge and Chi-Chi earthquake data is performed. The analytical result shows that failure modes for ductile iron pipes are dominated by the connection failures caused by a lack of pull-out and compressive resistance in the axially direction.
