Description
Summary:博士 === 中國文化大學 === 史學研究所 === 93 === From Mid-Tang(Ca.760 to 907),through the Five Dynasties(907-960)to the Northern Song period(960-1127),when the regime was confronted by outside invasions, the central government would dispatch troops to the area in conflict.such system was called xing-ying.It is noted that the Dispatched-troops would surrender somtimes, even before the actual fightting,or defect in the middle of the war.Yey mutinies never occur during the Northern Song period. Why does this phenomenon remain the same and would not follow any pattern of its predecessors? Most historians believe that the stresses upon the Northern Song upon the impotance of central power and security, while neglecting territory expansion.
