Two major reasons to induce “Age Wave” are increase of human life and baby boom after The World War II. This trend influences women much more than men. In Taiwan, women averagely live longer than men by 5.7 years old which is higher than the average difference of the world. Traditionally, men prefer to marry women who are younger than them. Women become widows more likely than men in their senior life. Therefore, the issues related to the preparation for aged life of baby boom women is worthy studying. This study is expected to study the characteristics and life styles of baby boom women from relevant literature, and then to discuss the preparation for aged life of baby boom women. Hopefully, some results of this thesis can be provided to authorities for planning policies of aged life of baby boom women, and to researchers who are interested in this topic. The research method of this thesis is based on in-depth interview and purposive sampling. Interviewees include two senior women (both more than 65 years old) and twelve baby boom women (all born during 1946-1964). Interview content is taken with qualitative analysis, and some conclusions are found as follows. (1) Lifestyle of female baby boomers can be categorized into four patterns: family-centered, inactive, conservative, and self-contained. Furthermore, baby boom women’s life styles are influenced by their social networking. (2) Due to collapse of the function of family and change of the way that young children treat their parents, women of baby boom generation need care from their children much more than financial independence. (3) The future resident style of senior citizens is tending to keep their own space. They prefer to live in senior departments or look for professional senior daycare service instead of living with their married children. (4) Baby boom generation women pay more attention on their healthy and wealthy. They like to participate in religious activities or community services, but don’t care about social securities provided by government or private institutes. Female baby boomers are more educated and have higher living standard than the last generation. They break the stereotype of weakness or dependence; they are more self-determined and independence instead. Finally, the study brings up some suggestions about baby boom generation women’s economic security, old age life, marketing of government policies for future research.
