Summary: | 碩士 === 東吳大學 === 經濟學系 === 93 === This research sample is divided into six groups: junior high schoosl, top three preferred high schools, other high schools, 5-year junior colleges, public vocational high schools and private vocational high schools. The aim of this research is to discuss the influence of different education systems to students' academic performance from the aspects of individual characteristics, family background and mutual relationship with people.
From the aspect of individual characteristics, male students achieve less in academic performance than female students in the groups of junior high schools, 5-year junior colleges and private vocational high school school students. Believing personal value and a higher self-expectation have a positive effect in academic performance among junior high school students. In ordinary least square, the ability of accomplishing tasks by individual self plays a positive role in academic performance for other high schol students, 5-year junior college students and private vocational high school studenst. In fixed effect model, the academic performance is better for both public and private vocational high school students when they spend more time in cramming school.
From the aspect of family background, if parents have a higher execation on children in the issue of pursuing a higher degree in master or phD, it will be a positive effect in academic performance for the students in other high schools and top three preferred high schools. The higher educational level and income of the parents have an obvious positive influence in academic performance in the group of junior high school students, but the influence weakens after the division of senior high and vocational high.
When it comes to the mutual relationship with people, the students do better in academic peroformance in junior high schools, top three preferred high schools, other high schools and 5-year junior colleges when they are not being abused or left out by their school mates. In junior high schools, other high schools, public vocational high schools and private vocational high schools, students also do better in academic performance the more they get along with their teacher.
