Whilst light strengthens, the intensity of shadows reinforce as well. Shadows twist, stretch and change shapes since they present the movement of light. Therefore people have been given distinct imaginations and images by the varied presentation of shadows. By reviewing and exploring some literature, I have analysed the performance of shadows in artwork, including the principles of construction, visual recognition, perspectives and the composition of images in pictures. In addition to some visible shadows such as reflected images and silhouettes, there are shadows in our mind also. People’s emotional ripples touch their subconscious, making an impulse of deep feelings. Whilst creating artwork, the appearance of shadows shows the self-cure processes. Hence, I would like to present the theme of shadows by using the forms of collage and montage and the material of inkpaint. 吳長鵬 2004 學位論文 ; thesis 71
