Summary:碩士 === 國防大學中正理工學院 === 電子工程研究所 === 94 === A tunable electro-optical device (EO device) combined with liquid crystal (LC) layer and photodetector (PD) was fabricated in this study. The transmittance of input light was controlled by a dynamic scattering mode (DSM) of LC layer, and detected by a metal-semiconductor-metal photodetector (MSMPD) structure with Al ohmic contacts on Si substrate. The situation of light intensity modulation can be directly analyzed by comparing with dark-current and photo-current, both of them were created by excess carriers collected by biasing two metallic contacts of MSMPD under whether it was illuminated by light or not. The novel device has good performances of modulation in visible light region.
